A guide to energy saving

For every 1kw of electricity used the heat pump provides 4kw of heat energy.  Typically a 200sqm new build would require a 12kw heat pump using just 3kw of electricity.

Ground Source Heat Pumps

kensa We supply, fit and maintain Kensa Ground Source heat pumps. We are registered with the DTI Low Carbon Buildings Programme for grants. GSHPs are electrically powered systems that tap the stored energy of the greatest solar collector in existence: the earth. These systems use the earth's relatively constant temperature to provide heating (and sometimes cooling and hot water) for buildings and processes.

The great news is that you are guaranteed a £1,200 cash grant for fitting a ground source heat pump in your UK home, which is increased to 50% for community schemes such as schools, community centres, hospitals etc. This brings the cost of a complete kit for an average
80sq m home to less than a condensing oil fired boiler, tank, flue etc. Kensa remain the only company approved under the UK Governments Clear Skies initiative to manufacture and install ground source heat pumps.

The benefits of GSHP's include:

  • Low running costs
  • Low environmental impact
  • No regular maintenance
  • Safer than conventional systems
  • Easy installation
  • Complements underfloor heating
Full technical details including the size and build specification of the GSHP and recommendations for their positioning can be obtained by emailing info@eastgreen.co.uk or calling us on 01728 602315.
